Introduction
Graffiti ..... A subject which was not in the mind of Julius when he founding the website Szia. But, during the many walks in Budapest Julius has discovered brilliant graffiti artworks. Because art is a very important part of the website Szia, graffiti art is since October 2010 a permanent part of this website.Till march 2011 Julius has made photo galleries of 13 locations with beautiful graffiti art and which can be viewed on this website. The numerous locations photographed after March 2011 and updates of the 13 locations can be found soon on a special website called "Budapestgraffiti"
Galleries 1 to 6 were made in August / September 2010. The seventh series on this page is an art project with graffiti, at Metro station 2 Széll Kálmán tér and is a semi-commercial project. Julius made this gallery in September 2010. Galleries 8 to 12 are made in December 2010 and January 2011. The last gallery, 13, is made in March 2011. The most recent galleries are on top!
If possible in time, Julius visits all locations frequently to monitor on changes. Thi art form simply do not have eternal value and can disappear quickly. But, fortunately we than still have pictures .... And, please give your comments or suggestions if you know other locations in Budapest and have more background information on the artists!
Graffiti in Budapest
Graffiti .... A growing problem in Budapest and no building or a door, monuments or buildings of lesser importance, can escape. Most of this graffiti is vandalism, with great damage as result.Walking through Budapest and familar with graffiti you'll see the same tags on numerous locations, because most artists or vandals are to recognize at a style. A scaffolding against a wall guarantees that artists or vandals try to use it to put graffiti on a rooftop of a building (see photo). The expression as shown in the picture can be found at numerous places in Budapest. This is the same for other tags.
And, when you walk through Budapest, and see a beautiful Art Nouveau door that is daubed with graffiti, then you wonder how less respect for the art and awareness of the value of door the people do have who destroyed it. Youthful indiscretions or lack of education? A great deal of water must flow through the Danube before the vandalism will stop and in Budapest are plenty of places where graffiti is not injurious, but rather an enrichment.
Guided tour: Graffiti art in Budapest
Graffiti can be art, the picture left shows an artwork by the artist Taker which could be found in Budapest until early April 2011.TIt is literally an figuratively an adventurously tour which brings you to different locations in Budapest such as " the wall of fame" and, currently, a dilapidated factory complex where beautiful (old) examples can be viewed. The route and the locations which will be visited, are depending of which locations are the most interesting ones at the time of the guided tour. Even than it is always a surprise what kind of graffiti art can be viewed on the locations which will be visited.
